Two become One at The Queensmere Observatory
There has been talk of physically combining The Queensmere and The Observatory Shopping Centres for many a year with innumerable previous owners making such promises. After lengthy discussions and negotiations, that talk is finally a reality as terms have been agreed between the Centre current owner and labels-for-less retailer TK Maxx to provide a new 30,000 sq ft flagship store that will link the two.
Work has already begun on the major structural changes which involve the amalgamation of three existing Queensmere shops to create the new link space. The TK Maxx store will feature two entrances, providing access to both shopping centres as well as access from either Centre providing shoppers with a convenient and enhanced shopping experience.
TK Maxx customers will be conveniently located to enjoy an exciting new shopping experience. As well as enjoying savings of up to 60% on a huge choice of ever changing designer and high street brands in a new look bright and modern environment from the retailer, shoppers will have open access to both The Observatory and The Queensmere Centres. Works are expected to complete in late spring this year.

Simon Edwards, Asset Manager at Criterion Capital advisors to the owner said, ‘this has been an essential part of the development strategy of the Centres since purchase in 2007, to provide the covered link between the Centres and allow customers to walk throughout a combined Centre. We see this as a positive benefit to our retailers both large and small, as well as for the Slough shopper. To secure TK Maxx as an anchor for a further ten years is also a great achievement and we are proud to have them working with us to deliver this project’.
As always there will be lots of events for all the family. Click here to go to our events calendar. And we'll let you know when new shops will be opening up at The Queensmere and The Observatory.
