QueensmereObservatory Mothers Day competition and the winners are…..
Over the last month the QueensmereObservatory has given budding artists the opportunity to create a very personal picture for their Mother for Mothers Day. Hundreds of entries where received in paint, ink, crayon and even computer generated graphics.
The entries where of such a high standard that two winners where chosen in the 7-9 age group. The joint winners are Qurratul Ayn, aged 7 and Summer Rasul aged 9, both from St Mary’s School. Also highly commended in that category are Gamandeep Kullar, Fiza Kashif and Hana Khan.
Karansing Thapa, aged 11 from James Elliman School is the winner of the 9-12 age group and three other local children, Harshu Kocherlakota aged 10, and Luqman Kassim and Sukhdeep Kang, both aged 11 and also from James Elliman School where all highly commended for their portraits.
All three winners will receive a £25 shopping voucher to spend at GAME on themselves and a £20.00 Marks & Spencer voucher and £xx to spend at Waterstones for their mothers. Debenhams are also giving the lucky mums a Clarins facial and a hamper full of assorted products to pamper themselves with. The winning portraits have been framed and will be presented with their prizes on Saturday 21st at the QueensmereObservatory.
Paul Clifford, Centre Director at QueensmereObservatory said, ‘we are delighted with the massive response to the competition, every Mother whose child entered should be very proud indeed. As well as the winners of the two age groups we offered a prize of £100 to go to the school which submitted the best overall quality of portraits, this prize goes to St. Mary’s School’.
A selection of the portraits are on view in the QueensmereObservatory opposite the entrance to Debenhams and available online to view at www.agiftformother.com.
